- "Croatian Tales of Long Ago" won a prize as the best multimedia project on the festival Lucca Comics 2004 in Italy!
We have been doing well in Italy this year!
After Future Web Festival in Bologna, and Cartoon Club Festival in Rimini, we were invited to one of the most important cultural events in the neighboring country. "Croatian Tales" won the award for "il miglior opera multimediale"!
-
-
The project editors and producers Helena and Zvonimir Bulaja received the award on a ceremony in Auditorium San Romano, a St. Roman's church converted to a conference hall. The award has been given by Massimo Silva, the director of Lucca Multimedia program.
Ivor took the award...
... then he dropped it! ...
... "I am holding it tight, won't happen again!"
-
The jury explained that the award has been given "first of all for an outstanding cultural value, put into life trough an unique multicultural project inspired by the Croatian Tradition, as well as for high aesthetic and technical quality of the animation".
-
- We are very honored to get such an important award in Italy, too, and it means a lot that we got it on a comic strip festival, moreover the most important one in the world. It is another confirmation of the richness and varieties of the project - said Helena Bulaja, "Croatian Tales" project editor-in-chief.
-
Helena Bulaja presented the project to the Italian audience the day before, and there was a multimedia exhibition about "Croatian Tales" at the festival site.
-
Lucca Comics and Games exists since 1966 and is the most famous festival in the field of comic strips, sometimes called "Cannes of the Comics". Couple of years ago they also introduced the multimedia award. We hope the award we won will lead to the publishing of "Croatian Tales" in Italian language, which is also a part of our plans for the near future.
-
-
During the festival the city of Lucca - in Tuscany half way between Pisa and Florence - turns into a world capital of the comic strip.

The judges of the festival also said this about our project: "For children, but not just for children, fairytales from near but not so well known Croatia expect you in Lucca Multimedia festival pavilion. Witches, dwarfs, fairies and fantastic creatures make these timeless stories, presented trough the youngest of all communication media: the computer. Made in Flash, eight Croatian fairytales are one of the best project of this kind in past years. For kids, but also for all who remain kids deep inside.
The webpages of the festival are available on http://www.luccacomics.com.
